Hockey and swimming - all in a day

Z getting ready for hockey - confusing when it is 90 degrees out

All ready to skate!

Pool time!

Summer in the suburbs is fabulous! Now I know why we moved out of the city. We have been hitting the beach and pool daily. It is so nice to be at the pool or beach in 5 minutes. Zack has summer camp 3 times a week. Camp is through the park district at the elementary school in our neighborhood. He seems to love it, but is very brief when I ask him what he did at camp today. Typical answer is "I don't know" or "nothing." Someone told me to make friends with the girls in the class so I can get details - ahhh boys. Zack also continues to play hockey - EVEN during the summer. Actually it is a nice break from the heat. Above are pictures from Friday afternoon. Zack had hockey practice and then after practice we went swimming. The hockey rink and pool are at the same facility.
Alex is loving all his fun in the sun. He enjoys eating sand and drinking pool water. He is transitioning to whole milk and the sippy cup nicely. My baby will be 1 on Friday. So hard to believe. Where did this past year go? I'm pretty sure I'll be saying that for years to come.

Fun with Grandma and Gramps

The boys and I made the very long drive to the Ozarks last week. Thank goodness Grandma Jude came into Chicago to ride with us. The eight and a half hour trip took us eleven hours! We made a FEW stops along the way to make it less painful for the boys. The way home went much more quickly- nine hours. The drive was worth it! We had a fabulous time being spoiled by Grandma Jude and Grandpa Scott. Zack was in pure heaven. He now LOVES to fish. He went through 5 dozen worms very quickly and caught 23 Bluegill fish! He managed this all with a Toy Story fishing pole. Zack also enjoys noodling. Noodling is a Huebsch Family past time. Everyone grabs a noodle and bobs up and down in the lake until you look like a prune. Zack caught on right away and seems to understand just how important it is to spend a good part of the day just noodling around.
Alex also had a wonderful time. He got to play in the baby pool and take his first boat ride. Alex is now 11 months old. He is a garbage disposal. He will eat almost anything I put in front of him with the exception of eggs. He still has a strong distaste for scrambled eggs. He babbles like crazy (mama, dada, zeee, bimbop to name a few). He has mastered going up stairs and is SLOWLY learning how to go backwards down them. He has two new teeth finally! He is a complete love and we are so lucky to have such wonderful boys!

Ahhh... We love the lake!

More fun at the lake

I can bike too!

We finally bought Alex a bike helmet. Now he can ride along with us on our fun bike rides.

Memorial Day Party

We celebrated Memorial Day with our good friends and their boys. We grilled out and had lots of fun playing outside. All the little boys played so well together.

Nothin' says summer like popsicles and bubbles

Wow, sorry for the long delay in updating the blog. We have been very, very busy these last couple of weeks. Zack finished school before Memorial Day weekend and then we traveled to the Ozarks (Grandma Jude and Grandpa Scott's lake house). We have had a gorgeous Spring and have spent a lot of time outside enjoying our new backyard. Zack, as you can see, loves the privacy of our backyard and tries to wear clothes as little as possible. Alex now enjoys all table food and will even clean up after Zack (hence the two popsicles).
