Go Hawks!
Football season already? I can't believe it is already here. Zack cheered on the Hawkeyes the first half. He really likes it when Iowa has the ball, but loses interest when they are on defense. Matt is a little worried since he is grooming Zack to play safety like Bob Sanders (LOL). I was in charge of half time food and it was delicious. I cooked Chicago dogs and sweet corn (yum, yum). Happy Labor Day!

Lunch with Daddy
Zack posing by the "Bean."
Today we ventured to Millennium Park with friends Liz and Drew. We had a great time. They offer free music classes in the park. There was a part during the class where the instructor wanted everyone to dance. Zack turned to me and no joke said, "Mommy let's go." I told him I felt like I was at a dance with Daddy. Zack is more interested in the fountains and running around near the Bean. Daddy was able to meet us for a little picnic lunch. After a busy mornings like today, Zack takes a great afternoon nap.

Look at me Mom!
We are sadly nearing the end of summer. Zack and I are cramming as many swimming and water park days in as we can. Zack loves the sprinklers at the park and he discovered a new way to go down the slide (on his feet). He repeats everything we say. His new phrase is "oh my goodness" and yesterday he brushed my hair and said "you look beautiful." His expressions are priceless!

Move over Syd!
Today we signed Zack up for hockey. He and a few other 2/3 year old rug rats are going to learn how to skate. I'm a little nervous since I have to be out on the ice with him. Matt called to make sure I can be in my tennis shoes. He didn't enjoy buying all the gear as much as daddy, but he really liked watching the guys at the rink play hockey. He starts September 10th. Wish us/me luck!

First Haircut
My baby just got home from his first haircut! Don't worry Grandma Jude, I didn't let them cut too much off. Zack and I ventured to Snippets today for his first haircut. Snippets is a kids salon with cool car and airplane chairs. Zack, in true fashion wanted nothing to do with the cool car or airplane. He wanted to sit in the big boy chair. So his first hair cut went fairly smooth (with only a little sucker for a bribe). After the 3 minute hair cut ($8/minute) he wanted to sit in the airplane and watch Sesame Street. All in all is was a successful trip and if I do say so myself I think he looks pretty handsome.

Am I crazy?
Party!
We hosted Zack's 2nd birthday party in the playlot across the street from our house. The theme was dump trucks. While Nemo is probably his favorite, I didn't think a fish theme worked in the park. So by default he had to have dump trucks for the theme. For the second year in a row, he didn't love people singing and looking at him during the "happy birthday" song. He did seem to enjoy playing on the jungle gym and in the sand box with all his buddies. There were about twelve little 2 year olds and four babies. It was a very crazy time! He received a ton of presents and our playroom is now the former living room.
Cousin Emma visits Chicago
Last week Zack's cousin Emma came to stay with us for the week. We had a great visit. She is such a well behaved and polite little girl. She is very good with Zack. We had a ton of fun. We went to American Girl (minus Zack), Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd aquarium, the pool and the beach. I think Emma had a really good time. We have been really missing her this week. Towards the end of the week Grandma Jude and Grandma Jeanene came in for Zack's birthday party. The picture of Grandma Jeanene and Emma is from the dolphin show at Shedd.

Look who's 2!
Zack turned two on Monday. I can't believe it! We went out for birthday pizza and birthday malts. Zack had a great day. We have his birthday party this Saturday. I wrapped his presents yesterday and he seems more interested in the center tube of the wrapping paper then any of his presents. He continues to talk a lot and has started going potty on the big boy toilet. It will probably take a year, but a least we have started the process. I bought him Nemo and Cars underpants. We haven't braved a day with underpants yet. I have to work up to that!
