Ladies Man

Ava, Lucy & Zack

Ryan (Ava's brother) & Zack

Yesterday was a perfect weather day in Chicago. The temperature reached near 80 and the sky was clear blue. We had a picnic with a couple of Zack's girlfriends from playgroup. They had a blast running around and Zack would occasionally come sit on the blanket to take a couple bites of his lunch. Zack seemed really interested in Ava's baby brother Ryan. He rubbed his head and foot while sitting with him on the blanket. Zack was to my relief, very gentle.

A little wind would help!

On Memorial Day we decided it would be a great day to fly a kite with Zack. He has been dying to take it out of the box (he received it for Christmas). It seemed pretty windy when we were sitting at home, so off we went to the park. Once at the park, we realized the windy city was not going to live up to its name. We managed to get the kite up a couple times, but these were brief. Zack still had a blast trying to find mud puddles to jump in - such a boy.

Boys, Boys, Boys!

Today was such a beautiful day here in Chicago. The temperature reached 80 degrees and it was crystal clear all day long. Zack and his buddy Luke (in picture with Zack) had a ball playing at the park. They love to chase each other, hide in the bushes, swing, climb on the jungle gym and get really dirty in the sandbox. We're lucky to have a neighborhood with lots of kids for Zack to play with.

Ahhh..... shorts & shades

We have been enjoying our spring. The weather has been a bit unpredictable, but we'll take the good days when we get them. We have a park across the street from our apartment, so we spend most of our day digging in the sandbox and running around with the neighbor kids. Grandma Jude was here last week. She has been helping us out a ton! Zack loves it when she is able to come visit (and so do I). I'm 31 weeks now. Crazy how much faster this pregnancy has gone. I'm feeling pretty good, just keeping my fingers crossed until 34 weeks (this is when Zack was born). I'll try to post a picture of my big baby bump next week.

I picked this out myself

Zack seems to think all he needs with his underwear is a pair of boots and his winter coat. He actually had this on most of the morning. Hey, the kid likes his rain boots.

The Baker and the naked guy

On Easter Zack and Daddy decided to make cookies for dessert. Zack is an excellent assistant in the kitchen. He loves to pour in the ingredients and help daddy with the mixer. The cookies were fabulous!

Easter Fun

Zack enjoying his Easter finds.

The only way to decorate eggs... in your Nemo underpants.

I had to include this picture - we have a lot of fleeting Zack photos.

Preschool here I come!

Yesterday Zack had his first day of preschool. He'll go twice a week for two hours each day. He was very excited to wear his new backpack. At his school, I can sit in the lounge and watch his classroom through closed circuit television. It was pretty hilarious to watch him interact with his new teachers and classmates. There are five kids in Zack's class and two teachers. Needless to say we picked this school because we love the student to teacher ratio. Circle time was a bit of a challenge for our VERY active 2 1/2 year old. I could just tell he was ready to burst out of his chair. His teacher had to help him sit several times during the five minutes of circle time. He loved gym time and enjoyed planting seeds in a cup of dirt. He is very excited to watch his flowers grow. He wants to touch the cup with dirt and seeds all the time. If any flowers make it, I'll post some pictures. I have serious doubt with all the man handling Zack has been doing that we will get anything to grow.

Burrrr, is it Easter?

Last weekend we had an Easter egg hunt for Zack at Grandma Jude and Grandpa Scott's house. The weather was a bit brisk as you can see by the winter coat. Zack had a blast searching for eggs with yummy treats inside. After the hunt we raced inside to warm up!

"I don't have a tail, I have a bum"

Zack and I were reading I Spy two days ago and looking for the elephant's tail. Zack informed me, "I don't have a tail, I have a bum." He has been cracking us up lately with his one liners. Here are a couple more. He passed gas and said, "excuse my bum." While walking yesterday he pointed out the fact that we were both wearing jeans. He then looked at me and said, "No sweatpants?" I'm not going to lie, I've been wearing a lot of sweatpants lately as my belly is getting bigger. It seems that Zack likes it just as much as daddy when I wear something besides lounge wear. He is such a funny kid!
