Zoo day!

We met our friends Jason and Courtney and their adorable kiddos at the Lincoln Park Zoo on Sunday. Jason and Courtney are friends of ours from Iowa City (law school) and now they live in Las Vegas. It was so fun to meet up with them and see the kids.
Zack had a great time and calls the animals by their movie star names from Madagascar. The lion is Alex, the Zebra is Marty and the Giraffe is Melman. Alex was an all-star, per usual.

A day in the life of a 9 month old

Under the table

Climbing up the chair to see what Zack is doing

Yeah, someone left the door open to Zack's games

Love, love, love mommy's shower

Where are all the breakables?

These pictures pretty much sum up our days here with our busy, busy, busy Alex. He loves to be anywhere he probably isn't suppose to be. He is gaining interest in the stairs. So far he has only made it up the first couple before I wrestle him down. We have gates at the top, but not the bottoms. The bottom shelves will remain empty until he is 3 (ha, ha). At his 9 month check up he measured 31 inches (>95%), 22 lbs 8 oz (75-90th%) and it was confirmed that he has a large melon (>95%).

Happy Easter (Belated)!

Alex Scott - 9 months

This month Alex perfected his crawl and now is working on speed. In this picture, Zack is attempting to hold on to the good old days of stationary Alex. Zack thought by putting pillows around Alex and tossing in a few toys, that his little brother might be content to stay put - NOT! Alex busted out and game over. Alex continues to be a great eater. He eats just about anything I put in front of him except scrambled eggs. I think I had to make scrambled eggs about 30 times before Zack would eat them. I'm glad eggs aren't too expensive. He will eat hard boiled eggs. It must be a texture preference. His 9 month appointment is on Thursday. I'll post his stats after the appointment.

Aspen Ski Trip

Zack's ready for ski school!

Alex hangin' with Grandma Jude

Zack and Mommy

Zack and Daddy

Zack and his ski instructor Sol

We had a fabulous family ski trip to Aspen. We met Matt's family out there and stayed at his brother Steve's house. By the end of the week, Zack was doing awesome at skiing and loving it! He mastered the Magic Carpet and advance to Skittles (the kid's gondola) and even got to go up on the chair lift to ski down with his instructor. On the last day we took Zack up and got to ski a little with him. It was so cool to watch him and see how much he had learned!
The weather was absolutely perfect for spring skiing! It was 40s and sunny on the mountain everyday except our last day. The last day we had 10-12 inches of fresh powder. Awesome snow if you're a pretty good skier (Matt and Steve), hard work if your average like me.
Grandma Jude took care of Alex while we were off having fun. Thanks Grandma! As the week progressed, Alex mastered crawling on his knees (as opposed to the army crawl). Alex will be out on the slopes soon enough (sigh....).

Crawling - HELP! (8 months)

Eight very fast months have passed since Alex was born. He just became mobile and are we in for it. He has perfected his army crawl and is working on getting on his knees. He'll even stand for brief periods of time at his musical table. Zack is starting to realize this sweet innocent baby has an agenda and it is to go straight for his big brother's toys. Zack is always trying to get us to put Alex in his stationary Exersaucer. Ahhh, let the friendly brother battles begin.
In other Alex news, he continues to explore new foods. He now eats mashed avocado, small cut up banana (not mashed), eggs and shredded cheese. He still hasn't cut any teeth, but I swear any day we'll see one. With the amount of Motrin I've given this kid, he should have a full set. He battled his first ear infection last month. Hopefully it will be the one and only for the season.
